A very long weekend
Whew, what a long weekend! This past weekend was the National Missionary Convention in Cincinnati, OH. I love these things, don't get me wrong. But they completely wear me out. Imagine 13 hour work days, talking non stop, and being on my feet for nearly all of those 13 hours. Yeah, it's a lot of work. And a whole lot of fun, too. I saw a ton of old friends, including a family that I did language acquisition training with in Colorado 4 years ago. I hadn't talked with them since the training was over and it was quite fun to catch up with them! As far as recruiting goes, it was very successful. We had more than 100 contact cards turned in and several people who were very interested in specific positions on our Verona, Italy team which was the main prayer focus of our display this year. What a blessing! Now that it's done, we have a lot of followup to do, so please pray for us as we contact people and work with them to find the right place for them to serve.
I also did some good networking as far as grant writing goes. Talked with one guy who recommended a book to me and then the next day came back and gave me his own copy! It's called Winning Grants to Strengthen Your Ministry and I am very excited to read it and get some good perspective on grant writing from a Christian point of view...something very difficult to find!
Jake's headed here soon. The original plan was for him to drive in tomorrow, but I think he might drive in today. I miss him like crazy, so I just want to see him. I don't really care when he gets here. We head up to Indy on Wednesday to meet with our cake baker. Yay! That should be really fun. Thursday is my Mom's Birthday and we head to my dad's cousin's house to celebrate with his side of the family. Normally, his sister hosts, but she just had open heart surgery a month ago, so she can't do it. On Friday, we head to IL to celebrate with my mom's sisters. We'll drive back to Indy on Saturday, go to Indian Creek Sunday morning, then drive to Louisville after lunch. Jake'll head back to Grundy and I'll start the craziness of decorating for Christmas. I might actually pull some things out before we leave and get a head start. I have a ton of lights to do this year since I bought lots in after Christmas clearance last year. I want to outline all of my windows and my garage door! Should be loads of fun!
I love Christmas!!Have a fabulous week everyone!
